Chart pattern Odds Builder
Pick a pattern, add conditions, and see how often it was followed by a rise or a fall 10 trading days later. Real results from 2,312 stocks since 2015, compared with a random chart in the same conditions.
Definitions: market uptrend = the S&P 500 (VOO) closes above its own 50-day average. Volume compares the last 5 days with the 20 days before (drying up below 0.8x, surging above 1.25x). Leading = the stock beat the market over the last 20 days. Results are measured close to close, ignore costs, and are past data, not a prediction.
How to read the result
- Compare the two cards. A pattern only matters if it beats a random chart in the same conditions.
- Look at the number of examples. Under 100 is a thin sample. Be suspicious of any combination that looks amazing.
- Expect small edges. Many conditions change the odds by only a few points. The skill is in judging the odds, not in finding a magic setup.

Frequently asked questions
What is the Odds Builder?
A free tool that shows how often a chart pattern was followed by a rise or a fall 10 trading days later, measured on 2,312 stocks since 2015. You can add conditions such as the market trend, the stock's own trend, volume and relative strength.
Is this a trading signal?
No. It shows what happened in the past on average. Individual results vary a lot, the filters ignore costs and news, and past odds do not predict the future. It is for learning, not advice.
Why do some combinations say "not enough examples"?
We only show a result when at least 30 real examples match, because small samples are misleading.
How is the comparison made?
Next to every result we show what a random chart did under the same conditions, so you can see how much the pattern changed the odds, if at all.
